He's not falling, he's scoring: Giorgos Masouras nets Greece's late equalizer in Sweden [InTime Sports].
The Greek men’s national soccer team shared a 2-2 draw with host Sweden on Thursday, as it prepares for the demanding Nations League group it has to face this fall.
The players of coach Ivan Jovanovic showed pretty much the same qualities and frailties that gave them a place in the top tier of the Nations League on the one hand and elimination from the World Cup finals on the other, in this friendly played at Solna.
The Greeks were prolific in attack, creating several chances in the first half but scoring only once, yet in defense there were several lapses of concentration, slow moves and poor positioning, that very nearly gave the Swedes a come-from-behind victory.
Producing a rather unusual formation, with three at the back and with Andreas Tetteh and Vangelis Pavlidis up front, Greece stunned its host with a particularly strong start. That had Kostas Tsimikas open the score after 10 minutes with a right-foo volley from some distance, and Dimitris Kourbelis see his shot denied by the crossbar 10 minutes later.
