Francesco Esposito was on target for Italy in Iraklio on Sunday [InTime Sports].

Greece suffered a 1-0 friendly loss to a superior Italy in Iraklio on Sunday, in a low-speed game between two teams that have missed out on the upcoming World Cup.

Both Greece and Italy fielded experimental lineups, with Ivan Jovanovic opting for a 3-4-1-2 formation having Tasos Douvikas and Giorgos Masouras in attack.

However, that was nowhere near as attacking as the team that visited Sweden three nights earlier at Solna, as it has left the coach and the fans with much to be desired.

It did not take Italy long to open the score, as Francesco Esposito beat keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from close range after 17 minutes.
