The police arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly making a hoax bomb call to the police control room. He had claimed that explosives had been planted at multiple locations in Chennai, including a police station.The police said a man called the emergency helpline number 100 on Wednesday night and said a bomb had been planted at the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar police station before hanging up. After receiving the alert, a head constable attached to a Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar patrol vehicle contacted the caller using the mobile number from which the threat was made.During the conversation, the caller allegedly abused the head constable and claimed that bombs had been planted at several places across Chennai before hanging up again.Searches by the police, with the help of bomb and dog squads, confirmed that the threat was a hoax. Based on a complaint, the police launched an investigation.Using the mobile phone number, investigators traced and arrested Syed Hashim Haga of Vasudevan Main Street in Perambur.
