The government has ruled out early closure of schools for midterm despite rising cases of school unrest.
Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said Thursday that learning in majority of institutions has remained uninterrupted, hence no need to move up the dates.
The latest incident of unrest occurred at Alliance High School in Kikuyu, coming just days after a deadly fire at Utumishi Girls Academy claimed the lives of 16 students, triggering renewed debate over safety in boarding schools and the increased cases of unrest reported in institutions across the country.
