The police have stepped up anti-drug enforcement under ‘Operation Toofan’, arresting four persons with over 16 grams of suspected MDMA at Kathiroor.The arrested are N. Jamsheer, 21, K.V. Sahir, 38, Tanveer, 35, and Rene Oliver, 46.The arrests were made during intensified checks across the Kannur City police limits as part of the State-wide anti-drug campaign. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Kathiroor intercepted and searched a car parked by the roadside, leading to the seizure of the contraband.In a separate operation, the Payyannur police seized 5.77 grams of suspected cannabis from an astrology centre near the old bus stand in Payyannur and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against its proprietor, P.S.
