OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman is urging lawmakers in Washington, DC this week not to require government approval for AI developers to publicly release their models, the company said.

Altman is also urging members of Congress to increase funding for an AI testing initiative at the US Department of Commerce, the firm said, saying it is advocating for policy “transparently”.
