Hope Foundation has started construction of six bridges and inaugurated another one to facilitate travel for rural communities in southern Vietnam.

On June 2, at Hoa Dinh 1 Hamlet, Phong Hoa Commune, Dong Thap Province, Hope Bridge 457 broke ground to replace an old, narrow, and degraded bridge that no longer met the daily travel and goods transportation needs of local people.

Le Trong Linh, Secretary and Head of Hoa Dinh 1 Hamlet, said local people had long desired a solid bridge with high load capacity to serve the transportation of fertilizers and agricultural products. The new bridge will also help students travel to school more safely."Upon hearing the news of a new bridge, people here were very excited," Linh said.Hope Bridge 457 will measure 24 meters in length and 3.5 meters in width, with an estimated cost of over VND300 million (US$11,400), with Roche Vietnam Co., Ltd. sponsoring VND100 million ($3,800) through Hope Foundation.Three other bridges - Hope Bridges 453, 455, and 456 - broke ground on the same day in Phong Hoa and Tan Phu Trung communes. These projects are supported by lecturers and students from FPT Polytechnic College. All were proposed by local authorities based on urgent transportation needs, especially for students' daily commutes
