Belagavi-based KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) Deemed-to-be-University (KLE Deemed University) will confer honorary doctorate on Leonard G. Gomella, who is a Professor and Emeritus Chair of Urology, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia in the U.S., during its convocation on Friday.The honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc) (honoris causa) is being given to Dr. Gomella in recognition and appreciation of his significant and outstanding contributions to the field of urologic oncology, pioneering clinical care and basic science understanding in micro-metastasis and cancer cell research, KAHER Chancellor Prabhakar Kore said in a release.The 16th Convocation of KAHER will be held at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, JNMC Campus, at 11 a.m.Principal Director, Symbiosis Society, Vidya Yeravdekar, who is Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Symbiosis Knowledge Village, Pune, will be the chief guest. He will deliver the convocation address.Vice-Chancellor, Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHR), Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha, Lalitbhushan S. Waghmare will be the guest of honour.Dr. Kore will preside over the event. Vice-Chancellor Sandeep Srivastava will present a report. Registrar and other officers V.M. Pattanshetti will be present.Guests will award a total of 1,810 degrees in various disciplines of Health Sciences, including 40 gold medals, for academic achievements in the respective courses and specialities, 44 Ph.Ds, 28 post-doctoral (DM/M.Ch), 691 post-graduates, 1,013 under-graduates and 34 post-graduate diplomas, diplomas, fellowships and certificate courses.The details of the event are available on the university website, www.kaher.edu.in, said the release.
