The fallout from the explosive revelations emerging from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry continues to spread through the upper ranks of the South African Police Service, with two more senior officers now facing possible suspension over their alleged links to underworld figure Vusumuzi Matlala.

According to ENCA, the officers have been served with notices of intention to suspend and have been given an opportunity to explain why they should remain in their positions. Their names have not yet been made public.

The latest developments come just days after four other senior SAPS officials were also served with suspension notices as part of an expanding investigation into the controversial police health management tender awarded to a company linked to Matlala. The four officials have already been charged internally for allegedly breaching bid adjudication processes.

The growing list of officials facing disciplinary action is the latest chapter in a scandal that has already shaken the country's law enforcement leadership. Testimony before the Madlanga Commission has exposed allegations of improper relationships between senior police officials, politically connected individuals, and alleged criminal networks, triggering internal investigations, criminal probes, and a wave of suspensions.
