Chain-snatchers appear to be back on the prowl in Bengaluru, with three women falling victim to separate incidents in Vijayanagar, Subramanyapura and Banashankari. The police suspect the same gang may be behind all three crimes as the offences occurred within a short span of time and followed a similar modus operandi.In the first incident, Renuka was walking near her home at Remco Layout in Vijayanagar when two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched a 35-gm gold chain from her and sped away. Based on her complaint, the Vijayanagar police have registered a case and launched an investigation.In another case, Jayalakshmi Nayak was targeted near the Shanimahatma Temple at Chikkakallasandra in Subramanyapura. The accused, who arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly snatched her 16-gram gold chain before fleeing. The Subramanyapura police have registered a case and are probing the incident.A similar offence was reported near Raghavendra Coffee Hotel in Banashankari. Rashmi was on her way home when motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly snatched her 57-gram gold chain and escaped. The Banashankari police have registered a case and initiated a probe.The police believe the three chain-snatching incidents could be the handiwork of a single gang.
