The police arrested three persons for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman from West Bengal, along with their associates, before stealing her valuables at Gangondanahalli in Bengaluru on October 21.
According to the police, the accused, along with three others, barged into the house of the woman, threatened her with dire consequences, and demanded money and valuables including two mobile phones and cash ₹ 25,000. While three of the accused allegedly raped her, the others stood guard.
The woman raised a complaint following which a police team led by Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba rushed to the spot, took stock of the situation, and tracked down two of the accused within hours in a night-long operation. Efforts are on to trace the other accused, who are on the run.
The victim was later taken to a hospital for medical treatment and said to be recovering.
The accused have been identified as Karthik, Glen Verghese and Suyoga aged between 22 to 25 hours.
