GUWAHATIA Manipur policeman died in a knife attack during an anti-drug operation in the State’s Thoubal district on Wednesday (June 3, 2026) evening.Officials said the attacker was arrested on Thursday (June 4, 2026) morning. He was detained along with another person soon after the incident. “During the operation, one of the detainees, Md. Naobi alias Mahil (25) attacked Havildar Kh. Suresh Singh of the 4th India Reserve Battalion, with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries before fleeing the spot along with the other detainee,” the State Police said in a statement on Thursday (June 4, 2026).Singh was rushed to the district hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. He was a member of the State’s police commando unit in Thoubal.During the past 24 hours, the security forces have arrested six extremists belonging to different groups from Chandel and Imphal East districts.
