T-Mobile $TMUS opened its first global capability centre outside the U.S. in Hyderabad, India, with plans to employ around 1,000 people at the facility by 2027, according to the Times of India.

At Hitech City, the leased space for the new facility runs to 250,000 square feet and is managed under T-Mobile's subsidiary TMUS Global Solutions Technology. More than 500 employees have already joined the facility.

The company said employees will develop expertise in areas including cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, DevOps, product development, software engineering, and enterprise digital solutions.

According to Chandra Gupta, who serves as vice president of IT operations at TMUS Global Solutions, the city's deep talent pool and well-developed innovation infrastructure made it the right fit for the company's strategic direction. "Our global technology centre in Hyderabad will play an important role in strengthening our engineering and digital capabilities while enabling teams to build solutions that support our customers and business priorities," Gupta said in a statement.
