The Shivamogga district administration will conduct a drill at Nehru Stadium on Friday, to test its preparedness and create awareness about precautionary measures to be taken in the event of an air strike.A meeting held at the office of the Superintendent of Police on Thursday reviewed preparations for the exercise.Additional District Commissioner V. Abhishek said the Union Home Ministry had directed district administrations to conduct mock drills to assess their response capabilities and ensure public safety during emergencies. “The drill will focus on public evacuation procedures, shifting citizens to safe locations, providing immediate medical assistance to the injured, and ensuring inter-departmental coordination during crisis situations,” he said.The District Disaster Management Authority, home guards, police, fire and emergency services, NCC, Shivamogga City Corporation, Health and Family Welfare Department, and KSRTC will participate in the exercise.Additional Superintendent of Police A.G. Cariappa said a siren will sound for two minutes to signal the start of the drill. “There is no need for panic. Ambulances and fire tenders will move through the city as part of the exercise, and citizens are welcome to observe the drill from the stadium,” he said.Officials from various departments attended the meeting.
