Vernon Kay has addressed a near wardrobe malfunction that happened on his team when they attempted to take a group photograph whilst wearing green dresses08:56, 04 Jun 2026Radio presenter Vernon Kay has admitted that he nearly had a wardrobe malfunction during the taking of a photo at the BBC. Vernon, 52, was coming towards the end his programme when he made the admission after everyone in the studio wore green dresses.‌Snaps were later posted to Instagram of Vernon and others in the team in the matching outfit at work. But Vernon had to address one of the photos that was taken during a brief moment when he wasn’t speaking on the air.‌He said: “I think we’re about to go viral with the team photograph that we’ve just taken. It’s quite something, I think, I’m going to say it because we’re honest as always on this show.‌“We had one of those moments where the soldiers were almost out the barracks if you know what I mean? Decency…the BBC. When you’ve not worn a dress for the very first time you forget, you know. It weren’t me by the way…can we just clarify that, please?”After the pictures went viral online, with the caption "It's Green Dress Wednesday and Vernon's team are fully onboard", the Bolton-born presenter was flooded with comments."This has made my day, you all look amazing, well done R2 team," one wrote. Another added: "Absolutely brilliant. Can always rely on Vernon to bring some Lighthearted stuff to our day."‌But some had some words of advice for Vernon. One said: "All look ace !! Not sure that shade of green is quite your colour."While another explained: "Love this, but it’s not your green Vernon, think a brighter one would be more flattering."‌Vernon’s comments on-air come weeks after he and Tess Daly split with the duo announcing their separation after 22 years of marriage. However, Vernon has stressed the pair still have good relations.Speaking about how he felt shortly after it happened, Vernon said: "I just want to say on behalf of myself and Tess, thank you, thank you, for all your well wishes, it's been greatly, greatly, appreciated.”Announcing their separation in a joint statement on Instagram, the pair said: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.‌"This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire of what is best for both of us.“We remain great friends and, most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority. There are no other parties involved in this decision.”‌Following their split, the pair are still believed to be living together at home with their two daughters, Amber and Phoebe. This has reportedly included moments where the pair still work together on certain jobs, including cleaning up after their children.Speaking about one such job on a Monday show last month, Vernon said: Yesterday, we were tidying up, Amber had a party.Tess and I were running around tidying up and thank goodness that the weather was nice, do you know what I mean, with cleaning up the garden.Article continues below“We had such a good time, it was awesome on Saturday night and very funny. But in the morning, Tess and I were like, 'Woah, better get cracking!'”
