MPs want the immediate former Commissioner-General of Prisons (CGP), Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba, to be surcharged Sh3 million that the taxpayer paid for his house rent, despite being entitled to a monthly house allowance of Sh100,000.
The members of the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC), acting on the report of the Auditor-General, Nancy Gathungu, on the accounts of the State Department for Correctional Services for the fiscal year 2023/24, which has flagged the matter, said it constitutes a double payment.
