Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. [File, Standard]
High Court in Nairobi upheld former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment but found rights violations and ordered the government to pay him Sh50 million.
A bench of judges Eric Ogola, Freda Mugambi and Anthony Mrima, ruled the impeachment process remained valid despite constitutional and procedural challenges raised by Gachagua.
The court said it had jurisdiction to examine the process and dismissed arguments that it could not intervene due to the separation of powers.
