I am a Senior Lecturer in Law and Undergraduate Convenor at Te Piringa Faculty of Law, School of Law, Politics, and Philosophy at the University of Waikato. My research focuses on the intertwined area of law and technology, including law of the sea, particularly salmon negotiations, fisheries more generally and the blue economy, as well as transnational law and gender and the law. My latest publications investigate and evaluate how increasingly sophisticated AI technologies facilitate novel forms of harm in society, specifically technology-facilitated gender-based violence and also technology-enabled environmental damage. I am also interested in how technology may enrich existing legal processes and procedures, which is prescient since emerging technologies are rapidly re-shaping law and improving access to justice. I am also a Research Associate with Te Puna Haumaru Centre for Security & Crime Science and a Fellow of the European Law Institute. I am a former Assistant Dean/Doyenne adjointe of the Juris Doctor Program at the University of Ottawa.
