Some Akwa Ibom youths, under the aegis of Ijaw Youth Council, Eastern Obolo Clan, have kick against the alleged refusal of the management of Conoil firm to recognise the community as its host in oil exploration deal.

The group lamented that despite correspondences to the company’s management on the needs for the recognition, such moves have met brick walls.

According to the group, the chairman of the local government and the state Ministry of Labour and Manpower Development have at different times written to the leadership of the company on the issue but to no avail.

In a letter addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Baba Azare, on Tuesday, the group urged the company to recognise the community for peace to prevail.

The letter was endorsed by Elder Michael Jaja, Chairman; Alphonsus Humphry Dyet, Vice Chairman, and Ezekiel Uneadasi Secretary.
