At the coast, there is a growing alarm over the rising Indian Ocean. As it continues to swallow the coastline, farming communities are being forced to move elsewhere, with saltwater invading their land.
And the United Nations has just warned the world to prepare for the imminent return of El Niño and the weather extremes it brings. The climate shift will disrupt agriculture, compound food insecurity, strain energy supplies, and devastate supply chains.
