OTTAWA—Prime Minister Mark Carney praised Gov. Gen. Mary May Simon in her final days in office, not just for her work as Canada’s viceregal representative, but for a lifetime spent improving Canada’s relationship with Indigenous people.
Simon was celebrated Wednesday at a banquet hall just off Parliament Hill only days before her replacement Louise Arbour is to be sworn in.
