OTTAWA—Prime Minister Mark Carney introduced Louise Arbour, Canada’s newest Governor General, as the country’s “new commander-in-chief and new guardian of the constitutional order” in a pageantry-filled ceremony Monday.
Arbour, in turn, issued a clarion call for Canadians to embrace differences of perspective and the diversity of origins as strengths, and key to building a common future. “The world is watching, it’s watching the country that we’re building together,” she said.
