Police are appealing for information about a dark red mountain bike as they continue investigating the alleged murder of 76-year-old Tārati (Dorothy) Buckley in the Far North.

The investigation, known as Operation Peony, is examining the circumstances surrounding Buckley’s death. While a man has been charged, police say inquiries remain ongoing and they are seeking further information from the public.

Detective Inspector Rhys Johnston said investigators are trying to locate a mountain bike allegedly used by the accused on the morning of June 1.

Police released a CCTV image showing a dark red mountain bike at the G.A.S petrol station in Maungatapere at 8.04am.

“We have not located this mountain bike, and I’m asking anyone who might know where this bike is to contact us,” Johnston said.
