The Finance Ministry will open by the end of June or early July a platform for the settlement of debts in 72 installments, aiming to assist millions of citizens and businesses owing to tax authorities and social security funds. The arrangement is also accompanied by strict conditions of consistency.
Interested parties will be able to submit an application by the end of December; those with debts created up to and including December 31, 2023, can apply.
Any subsequent debts will have to be included in the standard arrangement of 24 or 48 installments.
A basic condition for inclusion in this payment program is for the debtor to have submitted all income tax returns for the last five years, have no irrevocable conviction for tax evasion or smuggling and have legally settled other overdue debts that are not included in the arrangement.
At the same time, a minimum installment amount of €30 and a fixed interest rate of 5.84% are provided, which replaces surcharges and late payment interest, giving predictability and sustainability to the arrangement.
