Christopher Nolan‘s “The Odyssey” will screen in 70mm at Westwood’s Village Theatre for a special three-week run in partnership with the American Cinematheque.

Starting July 17, in partnership with Universal Pictures and the Village Directors Circle, the Los Angeles theater will offer three showtimes a day. Tickets will go on sale Thursday at 9 a.m. PT. Nolan and “The Odyssey” producer Emma Thomas are partners in the Village Directors Circle, the group of filmmakers led by Jason Reitman who joined to buy the historic venue in 2024.

The American Cinematheque is programming several screenings as fundraising opportunities ahead of the closure this fall for a year of renovation and restoration. The special events kicked off with the world premiere of James Cameron and Billie Eilish’s “Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D).”

Shot using new Imax technology, “The Odyssey” stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya and Charlize Theron. The adaptation of Homer’s saga is produced by Thomas and Nolan for their company, Syncopy, and is executive produced by Thomas Hayslip.

“Presenting Christopher Nolan’s latest epic in glorious 70mm on the largest traditional theater screen in Los Angeles is an honor for the American Cinematheque,” said American Cinematheque Artistic Director Grant Moninger. “The Village booth will be fitted with restored dual 70mm projectors to ensure a world-class presentation throughout the entire run,” he added.
