Kolkata: The West Bengal Cabinet Wednesday approved allocation of around 32 acres of land in nine bordering districts of West Bengal, which will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for fencing.In a significant move to ensure border security, the state government initiated the transfer of approximately 32 acres of land to plug the unfenced borders in the Indo-Bangladesh border areas spread across the critical border districts including Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Cooch Behar.Today, land transfer of 31.905 acres was paved in the cabinet meeting, state Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul said.After coming to power, on May 20, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari transferred 75 acres of land for 27 km barbed fencing at Indo-Bangladesh border across various districts to BSF.'Maa Canteen' to be rebranded as “Ma Ahar”, expanded to 500 CanteensThe state Cabinet took a series of major administrative decisions, including massive expansion of the state’s subsidized food distribution under the name “Ma Ahar”.The state’s flagship subsidized food program will be rebranded officially as ‘Maa Ahar’. It was formerly known as ‘Maa Canteen’ during Trinamool Congress regime.Announcing the Cabinet’s decision, Paul stated that the canteen will expand substantially to reach more beneficiaries. "While 390 centres are currently operational, the Cabinet has approved the setup of 110 new canteens. This makes the total network to 500 across Bengal with fish meal on day a week, egg meal two days and rest days veg meal," Paul said.The meal plan has been designed in a way with weekly rotation of fish served twice a week, eggs to be served 2 days a week, and vegetarian food on the remaining days.Foundation stone of Statue of Dr. S.P.
