Once he lost his family home as a child. Today Alakh Pandey, founder of the popular edtech platform Physics Wallah, have turned a school from Vaidpura, a village in Greater Noida into a sought-after education institution with a world-class digital library armed with 1000+ books and 30 laptops, free internet and air conditioning. As per a Better India report, Pandey lost his family home when he was studying in class 6. His father sold oil on a bicycle to help the family survive. In a previous appearance on the Kapil Sharma Show, Alakh revealed his financial struggles. He said that he started teaching kids from class 8 to earn money to support his family. At one point he dropped out of engineering course and started teaching physics at coaching centres for just Rs 5,000 per month. As per Better India report, his teaching methods of incorporating poetry, shayari soon led him to become popular and many coaching centers threw him out. Pandey explained that the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey was rooted in the challenges he encountered during his academic years. As a student preparing for competitive examinations, he observed that high-quality coaching programs were frequently inaccessible to many deserving learners because of their steep fees. Having faced similar financial constraints himself, he became increasingly aware of the educational gap affecting students from modest-income families. These experiences inspired him to pursue a mission of democratizing learning and ensuring that academic support was not limited to those who could afford premium coaching. Driven by this goal, he later founded Physics Wallah, an education platform designed to deliver affordable and accessible learning resources to millions of students throughout India. His YouTube channel has more than 14 million subscribers. As per a Forbes report, Pandey’s net worth is $ 1 billion or Rs 100 crore today.
