Atiku made the remarks as he threw his weight behind the concerns raised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the worsening security situation in the country, accusing President Tinubu of failing to adequately address the security crisis in the country.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s administration over what he described as “360-degree failure” on security in the country.

Atiku made the remarks as he threw his weight behind the concerns raised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over the worsening security situation in the country, accusing President Tinubu of failing to adequately address the security crisis in the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, Atiku said he agreed with the communique issued by CAN following the 2026 National Church Leaders Summit, describing the Christian body’s position as consistent with his longstanding criticism of the Tinubu administration's handling of security challenges.

CAN, in a communique issued after the National Church Denominational Leaders Summit, 2026, in Abuja, urged Nigerian leaders to prioritize the safety of Nigerians over political party interests and to ensure the release of kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers across the country.
