Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held talks with Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov on developing energy transport routes, including supplies to EU countries using Ukraine's infrastructure.

The Ukrainian Energy Ministry said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.

The two countries' energy ministers discussed the implementation of agreements reached between Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Ilham Aliyev on cooperation in the energy sector.

"The first test delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine last year confirmed the practical potential of the Trans-Balkan route and its importance for regional energy security. We are interested in expanding long-term cooperation," Shmyhal said.

The ministers also discussed the restoration and strengthening of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has been damaged by Russian attacks. It was noted that Azerbaijani businesses are ready to invest in Ukrainian projects, while Ukraine is prepared to provide comprehensive support for such initiatives.
