US President Donald Trump announced that the Islamic Republic has agreed not to acquire nuclear weapons and also said Mojtaba Khamenei is involved in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

In an interview with the “Pod Force One” podcast, published on Wednesday, June 3, Trump said: “They have already agreed not to have a nuclear weapon.”

In response to a question about Mojtaba Khamenei’s role in the negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States, he added: “He is completely involved in this matter. I think they hold a great deal of respect for him.”

The US President also said he had heard that Mojtaba Khamenei is “not doing very well.” Despite this, he said, Mojtaba has approved the talks and is being kept updated on the progress of the negotiations. Trump added: “I would like to meet him. We’ll probably meet at some point; it depends on how things go.”

Trump described the Iran issue as “a great success” and, regarding the ongoing negotiations between the two countries, said: “We are working on a deal, and if this deal is reached, it will be very good. If it isn’t reached, that’s fine too. Then we will proceed in another way.”
