A 28-year-old Gazan, Dhia Subhi, underwent complex leg-lengthening and corrective surgery aboard the UAE’s floating hospital in Egypt.
The procedure addressed a failed femur fracture, leg-length discrepancy, severe knee stiffness and foot drop through lengthening and a tendon transfer operation.
The ship-based facility, docked at Al Arish since February 24, 2024, is fully equipped with surgery, ICU, radiology and labs, and accommodates patients and relatives.
By November 2025, the hospital had completed more than 5,000 surgeries, underscoring sustained humanitarian medical support for people from Gaza.
