Adeleke ordered steps to procure new drones and other security gadgets to strengthen the state's security architecture and improve efforts against crime and banditry.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has directed his security team to commence processes for the acquisition of new surveillance drones and other security equipment following the alleged disappearance of five security drones purchased under the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Oyetola, who governed Osun State from 2018 to 2022, is President Bola Tinubu’s nephew and currently serves as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

The decision was reached after a series of security meetings chaired by Adeleke over the past four days, according to a statement issued on Wednesday, by the governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

Rasheed stated that records showed that the Osun state government had fully paid for five security drones during Oyetola’s administration, but none of the devices was available when Adeleke assumed office in 2022.
