Road infrastructure is poised for a major upgrade in north Telangana as the Central government on Wednesday approved ₹7,597 crore national highway upgradation project for four-laning of 190.76 km stretch of the National Highway (NH)-63 and NH-563.Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its nod for the widening of the key highway stretch aimed at boosting regional connectivity and driving economic growth.The existing Armoor-Jagtial-Mancherial section of National Highway 63 is slated to be widened to four-lane standards on Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and the Jagtial-Karimnagar section of the NH 563 to be four-laned under the Build-Operate-Transfer BOT (Toll) Mode, a press release said.Once completed, the project will reduce the travel time between Armoor and Mancherial by around one hour and 30 minutes and between Jagtial and Karimnagar by around 45 minutes. It will help ease congestion on the existing stretch of the key highways passing through Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar and Mancherial districts.In a statement, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar hailed the project describing it as a game-changing infrastructure boost that will power the growth of Telangana for decades to come.He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving the highway expansion project.
