A 36-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Gollapally village in Shamshabad on Tuesday evening allegedly distressed over not having children. The deceased was identified as Adedla Sukkapuri Swapna, a home-maker.

According to the police, Swapna was married to A.S. Srikanth alias Shiva on October 24, 2021. The couple lived with his family in Gollapally village. About two years ago, Srikanth moved to Dubai for work along with his elder brother due to financial difficulties, while Swapna continued to stay with her in-laws.

In a complaint lodged by her mother, Gudepu Madunamma, police were informed that Swapna had often expressed sadness over not having children. On the morning of June 2, she was on a WhatsApp video call with her husband and younger sister. During the conversation, she allegedly wept while speaking about her childlessness.

At around 8 p.m., Swapna’s mother-in-law went upstairs to check on her. After receiving no response despite repeated knocks, family members forced open the door and found Swapna hanging.

Based on the complaint, Shamshabad police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation. Preliminary enquiries indicate that Swapna may have taken the extreme step while in a state of emotional distress linked to her inability to conceive, police said. Further investigation is under way.
