Construction of the upcoming TIDEL Park at Panjapur along the Tiruchi–Madurai Highway is progressing well, with authorities expecting the project to be completed by 2026.The IT park is being developed jointly by Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation and Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of ₹462.50 crore on 14.16 acres of land adjacent to the Integrated Bus Terminus at Panjapur.Tiruchi Corporation had leased the land for 45 years instead of selling it outright and secured a 25.6% stake in the venture. Under the agreement, profits will be shared in the ratio of 74.40:25.60, ensuring a recurring annual revenue stream for the civic body.Work on the project commenced in February 2025 with an 18-month completion deadline. Although construction witnessed a slowdown during the election period, officials said the pace of work has since increased, with regular review meetings being conducted and contractors directed to expedite execution. The facility will have a built-up area of about 5.5 lakh square feet comprising a ground floor and six upper floors. Preliminary works, including pile foundation construction, relocation of overhead power lines, and shifting of two underground drainage pipelines, have been completed to facilitate the project.Once operational, the TIDEL Park is expected to be among the largest IT parks in Tamil Nadu in terms of project cost and built-up area. The complex will feature world-class infrastructure including a conference hall, data centre, food courts, parking facilities and other amenities. The facility is designed to accommodate around 10,000 employees and is expected to attract Information Technology (IT), Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, as well as startups.
