Liverpool have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Spanish coach Andoni Iraola to become the club’s new head coach following the dismissal of Arne Slot.

Iraola, who departed Bournemouth at the end of the season, has emerged as Liverpool’s preferred choice to lead the next chapter at Anfield after impressing with his progressive and high-intensity style of football in the Premier League.

According to reports from The Athletic, the 43-year-old is set to sign a two-year contract, with a formal announcement expected later this week.

The Spaniard has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising coaches, favouring short-term contracts throughout his managerial career. His previous coaching stints include spells with Cypriot club AEK Larnaca, Spanish sides Mirandés and Rayo Vallecano, before his successful tenure at Bournemouth.
