A ₹1,200 crore manufacturing facility of generic drugmaker Aurobindo Pharma’s subsidiary TheraNyM Biologics near Hyderabad, with a potential to generate more than 1,500 jobs for the local youth, was opened on Wednesday (June 3, 2026).Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu formally inaugurated the facility that will manufacture medicines used in the treatment of cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The products will be exported to several international markets, including the U.S., the Minister’s office said after the event in which Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and others participated.The facility has been established at Borpatla village in Hathnoora Mandal of neighbouring Sangareddy district. It is expected to create employment opportunities for more than 1,500 local youth, Mr.Sridhar Babu’s office said.With the arrival of TheraNyM Biologics, the global reputation and value of the Made in Telangana brand in the Life Sciences sector are expected to become even stronger, it said. The State government has been reiterating its focus on consolidating Telangana’s position as a preferred destination for Life Sciences companies.Two years ago, Aurobindo Pharma had announced the signing of a master service agreement between TheraNym and global pharma major Merck Sharpe & Dohme Singapore Trading Pte. Ltd. (MSD) for contract manufacturing of biologicals.TheraNym, the parent company said, will manufacture the products and supply to MSD and intends to invest about ₹1,000 crore for establishing a manufacturing facility with large scale bioreactors for any mammalian cell culture product and a vial filling isolator line for commercial drug product manufacturing up to 25-30 mn vials per annum.Earlier this year, Aurobindo Pharma said TheraNym Biologics will establish a greenfield project for commissioning a large scale mammalian drug substance manufacturing facility (Unit 2) housing a total of 60 KL bioreactor capacities with an investment of around $150-175 million.
