The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, nearly three months after the outbreak of the conflict.
The agency said more than one million people remain displaced, while food insecurity continues to rise due to higher prices, loss of income and growing pressure on markets.
In a statement carried by Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), the WFP said it had provided emergency food and cash assistance to more than 700,000 conflict-affected people across Lebanon since 2nd March.
The agency also distributed around five million hot meals and supported more than 215,000 displaced people in shelters. In addition, it delivered 24 humanitarian convoys to southern areas and border villages despite major security challenges that led to the postponement or cancellation of more than half of the planned convoys.
According to the latest food security analysis, around 1.24 million people — nearly a quarter of Lebanon’s population — are expected to face acute food insecurity between April and August 2026.
