South Africa and India have moved to deepen their science, technology, and innovation partnership, with both countries agreeing to convene three bilateral technical workshops on advanced materials and manufacturing, geospatial technologies, and digital infrastructure.
The agreement followed a high-level bilateral meeting between Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Nomalungelo Gina and India’s Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, in Hyderabad, India, on Tuesday.
The meeting occurred during Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s six-day working visit to India, which began in New Delhi on Friday, May 29, and concluded on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
In a statement, the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation said the visit formed part of South Africa’s broader programme to deepen relations with India and expand collaboration in areas including trade, investment, healthcare, digital innovation, science, technology, and innovation.
