The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces intercepted several ballistic missiles and drones launched by the Islamic Republic and, in response, struck targets on Qeshm Island.
In its statement, CENTCOM claimed that Iran fired several ballistic missiles toward countries in the region during the recent attacks, but none struck their designated targets. According to the US military, two missiles launched toward Kuwait crashed or disintegrated before reaching their destination, while three other missiles targeting Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense systems.
In contrast, some sources close to the Islamic Republic reported several explosions in Kuwait, as well as the disabling of an American Patriot missile system—claims that have not been independently verified so far.
CENTCOM also announced that its forces shot down three kamikaze drones before they could reach their targets. The command stated that the drones had been launched from Iran toward civilian vessels in regional waters.
