The 17-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment after being run over by a group of men with an SUV following a brawl at a private bar last week died on Wednesday (June 3, 2026), taking the death toll in the case to two. An 18-year-old woman from a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee camp had died in the incident on the night of May 30.A senior city police official said that the minor girl, who had accompanied the 18-year-old woman from Villupuram district on a two-wheeler after a brawl between two groups at a private bar in the city, died despite treatment.The police had said the woman and the minor girl were allegedly sexually harassed by a gang inside the bar. The two were returning home to Ramapuram via the Koyambedu flyover when the SUV, allegedly driven by Sumanth Sakthivel, deliberately crashed into their vehicle. Both sustained serious injuries.While the woman was killed on the spot, the minor girl, who had sustained a serious head injury, was undergoing treatment at the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital and died early on Wednesday.The police arrested seven accused, including Sumanth Sakthivel of Virugambakkam, in connection with the incident. The others were identified as Mohanasundaram, Vimalraj, Rahul, Balaguru, Kishore Kumar, and Joshua. The private bar was sealed on Sunday (May 31) night. Published - June 03, 2026 02:53 pm IST
