ONEX Shipyards & Technologies and Antipollution, a member of the V Group, have signed an agreement for the design and construction of four eco-vessels, with an option for four more.
The agreement was signed in the context of the international maritime exhibition Posidonia 2026, in the presence of the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Vasilis Kikilias.
According to a relevant announcement, the new vessels will be designed and built in Greece, utilizing the facilities of the Elefsis Shipyards and the Syros Shipyards (Neorio), which belong to the ONEX Group. Their classification will be carried out by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classification society.
The vessels under construction will be intended for the collection of ship waste and its transport to land facilities, in accordance with the provisions of the international MARPOL convention for the protection of the marine environment. At the same time, they will have operational support capabilities in marine pollution incidents and other maritime emergencies.
As noted in the announcement, the agreement is part of ONEX’s strategy to expand its shipbuilding activity in the field of specialized vessels. The group has already implemented a tugboat construction program for MEGATUGS and is now expanding into the category of new generation ecological vessels.
