Orange EV has announced record order volumes for its electric terminal trucks, including a single order for 600 vehicles. The deployment of the latter has already begun, with full rollout scheduled for 2026.Image: Orange EVOrange EV specified that the orders also include charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, uptime guarantees and extended warranties. The Kansas-based manufacturer said more than 1,900 of its electric terminal trucks are currently in operation and that its vehicles have accumulated 33.8 million operational miles. The company added that it expects to capture more than 25 per cent of new terminal truck orders and deliveries by the end of this year. The company also reported a 272 per cent increase in leasing activity over the past 12 months, arguing that leasing models can lower the barrier to electrification by reducing upfront investment requirements.Orange EV has two models in its portfolio. The HUSK-e comes with a 243 kWh battery and can be fully charged in approximately two hours at a rate of 105 kW. The e-TRIEVER comes with a “battery sized to meet your needs,” according to the website of Orange EV. Here, too, the battery can be charged “in as little as two hours” – but that obviously depends on the size. Both vehicles are built in Kansas City, Kansas. The US manufacturer added that the market is moving from pilot projects to large-scale electrification of yard operations, supported by charging and energy storage systems.“We have left the early adopter stage of yard electrification,” said Kurt Neutgens, co-founder, president and chief technology officer of Orange EV. “We’re seeing companies invest in hundreds of trucks because total cost of ownership superiority has been proven, including uptime, reliability, fuel savings and service guarantees.”Orange EV also highlighted charging developments within its product portfolio, including its enhanced combined charging system option, branded e-CCS1, which is now available across its vehicle range to support compatibility with CCS1 charging standards. Nevertheless, grid connection and permitting continue to pose challenges at some customer sites. To address these issues, the company offers the Orange Juicer, a battery-integrated direct current fast charger designed to reduce grid upgrade requirements.orangeev.com
