Like its close cousin Hyundai, Kia didn’t get the memo that electric vehicle sales are supposed to be dropping in the United States.

In the month of May, the Kia EV6 did see a slight decline year over year, dropping 13% from 801 in May 2025 to 708 in May 2026.

But that drop was negligible compared to the increase in sales from the larger Kia EV9, which rose 43.5% from 37 sales in May 2025 to 1,647 sales in May 2026.

Across the first five months of the year as a whole, the EV6 was again down. It dropped from 5,195 sales in January–May 2025 to 3,459 sales in January–May 2026 (down 33%). However, the EV9 was up by more. It rose from 4,095 to 5,726 in that same time period (+29%).
