Bengaluru: DK Shivakumar is likely to make populist announcements after holding the first Cabinet meeting following the oath-taking ceremony on Wednesday, sources in the know said.In New Delhi, caretaker chief minister Siddaramaiah and CM-designate Shivakumar held discussions with Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday on the shape of the council of ministers.Aspirants have rallied behind Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar and AICC leaders to get into the ministry as the new government will have barely a two-year term. While Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah have their own lists of about 10 each, AICC also has its list too. Only important persons will take oath, and the rest of the vacancies will be filled in two-to-four weeks after detailed discussions, according to Kharge.The CM-designate has invited religious heads from across religions and communities, including from micro-communities, to the swearing-in event.Shivakumar in an emotional post on X thanked the Gandhi family for shaping his political career. "Her faith in me during challenging phases of my journey is something I will always cherish," he said of Sonia Gandhi while remembering Rajiv Gandhi for spotting and encouraging him. He heaped lavish praise on Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for motivation and lessons in connecting with people and understanding their aspirations.
