A source within the Emir’s palace in Yashikira, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, alleged that police officers abandoned their divisional headquarters during a coordinated midnight attack by terrorists, leaving behind AK-47 rifles that were subsequently seized by the assailants.

The source, who spoke exclusively to SaharaReporters on Tuesday evening, gave a different account of the incident from the official statement issued by the Kwara State Police Command, which said officers successfully repelled the attack on the divisional headquarters.

According to the palace source, the attackers stormed the community with heavy weapons, forcing security operatives to flee their positions.

The source also raised concerns about the loss of firearms during the incident, insisting that the abandonment of the station exposed the community to greater danger.
