Fresh details have emerged on the deadly terrorist attack on Yashikira community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, with a surviving police officer revealing to SaharaReporters that the attackers overwhelmed security operatives with superior firepower before storming the palace of the Emir and abducting several residents.
The officer, who was among policemen stationed at the Emir’s palace during the attack, said the terrorists launched a coordinated assault on both the police divisional headquarters and the palace in the early hours of Sunday.
According to him, the attackers came heavily armed with sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 rifles.
“The terrorists attacked the police station with the intention to kill all of us. I was at the station when they attacked and not at the palace,” the officer told SaharaReporters.
