Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday said development and welfare are the twin pillars of the State government.Addressing the party cadres after hoisting the tri-colour on the occasion of State Formation Day at Gandhi Bhavan here, Mr. Goud said promises made before the elections were being fulfilled. He pointed to schemes ranging from free bus travel to subsidized rice, describing them as unprecedented in the country. “Development and welfare are the twin pillars of our governance,” he remarked, while accusing BJP leaders of misleading the public.Formation Day celebrations were organised on a grand scale at the party office where rich tributes were paid to the national leaders. Mr. Goud extended greetings to the people of Telangana and recalled the sacrifices of countless martyrs who laid down their lives for statehood. He credited Sonia Gandhi as the architect of Telangana, stating that her “firm resolve and determination” ensured the creation of the State. He emphasized that Telangana was realised in line with the aspirations and hopes of its people.He said that Telangana remained a State of communal harmony and secular values, asserting that Congress, as a secular party, had a strong future in the State. Goud urged party workers to dedicate the remaining two-and-a-half years to strengthen Telangana’s progress and pledged that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, Congress would return to power in the next elections.The event, organized under the supervision of Seva Dal chairman Jitender, saw participation from senior leaders including TPCC working presidents Anjan Kumar Yadav and Geetha Reddy, MP Anil Yadav, whip Balamuri Venkat, MLA Naveen Yadav, and several corporation chairpersons and district leaders.
