Left parties have decided to organise State-wide protests till June 9, demanding the abolition of taxes on petrol and diesel.Leaders of various Left parties participated in a round-table conference held at the CPI district office on Tuesday. Speaking at the event, CPI district secretary Sheikh Rahman and CPI(M) district secretary M. Jaggu Naidu criticised the fuel price increase and said: “The price hikes between May 15 and 25, had risen by ₹8 on petrol, diesel, and CNG; ₹60 for domestic cooking gas and ₹1,500 for commercial gas cylinders." The hikes have affected the economy and severely burdened the people."They leaders demanded the abolition of taxes on petrol and diesel, reduction in LPG prices and rollback of the recent hikes in commercial cylinder rates. They further said that Andhra Pradesh is entitled to a 50% share in the crude oil and natural gas extracted from the KG Basin in Kakinada, and the Centre should allocate the share to the State.The CPI and CPI(M) leaders announced that they would conduct a district-wide outreach campaign till June 9, to expose the financial burdens imposed on the public by the BJP-led central government, under the pretext of the West Asia war.They shared that a seminar would be held at the Alluri Vignana Kendram on June 6, this would be followed by a 'rastarokos' on June 9.
