Prices for beach equipment such as umbrellas and sun loungers along the Varna coastline have been kept unchanged compared to last year, according to operators as the summer season officially begins. Lifeguard services and beach infrastructure are already in place from June 1, marking the start of active operations along the strip.

Beach concessionaires say pricing stability is largely due to regulatory conditions that limit changes, keeping rates at last year’s levels for the upcoming season.

“Perhaps we are the only part of the economic activity in the country whose prices are one to one with last year, so it will be quite good for our consumers,” said beach operator Diron Rusovski. “By law, we are forced not to change the prices, so we keep them within the same parameters.”

Alongside pricing, attention is also focused on safety measures. Lifeguards stationed along the beaches note that conditions tend to become more challenging later in the summer, particularly in July, when sea currents and tourist numbers increase.

“It gets more dangerous on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast in July. Right now, at the very beginning, people can be calm,” said lifeguard Alex Dimitrov, adding that teams are prepared to respond to any emergency situations that may arise during the season.
